Background

Cylinders are used by industrial gas companies to deliver gases. A huge investment, cylinders are physical returnable assets and their management is tied to business productivity. Knowing which cylinders are available, their physical location and their operational status are all critical elements which directly impact the bottom line.

Time is consumed reading and entering cylinder data, a process repeated multiple times throughout the course of receiving, filling, shipping and tracking. Further, approximately five-percent of manual entries are incorrect, which has a negative impact on productivity and results in losses to the bottom line.

Ultimately, this lack of up-to-date data results in the inability to easily locate assets and in the lack of readily available information about an asset’s operational status at critical times.
